Rovers being priced out of JJ move

Rovers and Steve Kean are exploring the possibility of other midfield options after becoming tired of trying to haggle Jermaine Jones’s Schalke down.

Jones was a hit on loan at Rovers last season in the engine room of the Rovers midfield but trying to get JJ back for next season is proving to be an uphill battle.

It appears Schalke are, get this… asking for £10 million (or just under) for the permanent signature of the American midfielder in what appears to be a move to put off detractors.

£4 million fair enough, £6 million at a push, but £10 million?! Can I please have some of whatever they have been taking over in Germany?

And despite Rovers slow progress in the transfer market to date Mrs Desai, chairwoman of Blackburn, has given fans a little glimpse of deadlines by saying that new names will be arriving at Ewood Park in the next two weeks.

Desai told the Lancashire Telegraph – “We are in search of some good strikers and defenders and that will be finalised in the next two weeks. We are not running behind big names. Our selection would be a proper mix of young talent and senior players.”

Anyone got a pen to make a note of that… within 2 weeks.
