Under fire Rovers boss Steve Kean has come out of a corner with his fists up (not literally) after having his monthly meeting with the Rao family in India.

Kean has been out in Pune talking to the Venky’s gang and feels the force is still strong and that the backing he has been promised is still very much in place.

For the last few weeks the Scottish version of Al Murray has been copping flak for the team’s poor run of results and slide towards the relegation zone in the Premier League.

But Kean told the Daily Mail – ‘There have been stories about my future but I’ve been to India and it could not be further from the truth. I have a good relationship with the owners and I’m still enjoying it.

‘It was a really good meeting. It always comes around on the 27th or 28th of the month. I get my e-ticket on my phone, get on the plane and get out there.

‘We never discussed anything negative that was putting any pressure on me or the lads.

‘We talked a bit a bit about the last month and about where we are in the table. We’d like to be higher but we’re only two points further back than we were this time last year.

‘They’ve watched the games live and they can see there’s a determination and a fight. They know that’s a quality you need at this stage because it’s so tight.

‘We’re all fairly comfortable with the way things are progressing but I know we have to get the points and we have to get them quickly.

‘Relegation was not discussed, not at all. If it happened to any club there’s a massive financial implication but we haven’t discussed that.’

They might need to chat about it soon if results don’t pick up!
