Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that it is not an option for him to recall on loan striker Matt Derbyshire.

Blackburn fan Derbyshire has been a smash hit in Greece with 5 goals in 10 games.

The Big Man, speaking to the BBC, said – ‘I let Derbyshire out as we needed a little bit of financial adjustment,’

‘It was needed to bring in El-Hadji Diouf and Gael Givet. Those two players have made a good impact.’

However some excellent news is that Sam sees Matty as a long term Rovers prospect and wants to adapt Derbyshire’s game when he returns to England.

Sam continued – ‘He can score goals. We know that but the game at this level is much more than just scoring goals,’

‘There is no longer room for players who just score goals and do not do so much else.

‘Everybody has to put their work in when they are in possession and out of possession. That is something we can work on with Matt when he gets back.

‘Of course if anyone can score goals you would want to keep him. We do want to keep him.’

I normally fully agree with what Sam says in full but there is a sentence I must pull him up on – ‘There is no longer room for players who just score goals and do not do so much else.’

What exactly does Benni McCarthy do apart from score goals?!?
