Blackburn Rovers are hot on the case this afternoon with news that they are close to getting various players to sign new deals at the club.

Paul Robinson, Mark Bunn and Jason Roberts are all on the cusp of new contracts (what a turnaround for Jason!) and Steve Kean has indicated that Phil Jones will also be getting the fresh terms treatment to get him to commit to the cause.

Kean spoke to Sky Sports and said – ‘There’s Paul Robinson that we’re close to agreeing with, Jason Roberts we’re close to agreeing with and Mark Bunn.’

‘Young Phil Jones is on a long-term deal, but hopefully we can get more commitment towards him to try and take away interest from other big clubs as well.

‘There’s a lot going on, not just the lads that are here. There’s a few that are coming in.

‘That’s been really important for me to make sure that the lads that are coming out of contract and the ones that are attracting interest from other clubs, that we can almost match what anyone else is offering them.’

There is even imminent hope that Chris Samba will sign his new deal with the real Keano indicating that something could be sorted as soon as today.

Kean continued at full pace – ‘Hopefully things with Chris Samba will be tied up within a matter of hours and yes that will draw a line under things that have happened since the takeover.

‘Equally, when you have got your club captain in Ryan Nelsen and someone like Michel Salgado, who had a number of offers from elsewhere, signing new contracts as well as Chris, who is our team captain, it just shows they all think you are going in the right direction.

‘I’m confident of getting another body in before the window closes and hopefully we will have somebody doing the medical side of a transfer today.’

God the guys NOT getting new deals are going to feel left out soon!
