Well, at least for the duration of his proposed loan deal anyway! Blackburn signed Sam Gallagher on a season-long loan deal from Southampton in August with Owen Coyle remaining confident we’ll be able to keep him at Ewood Park until the end of the campaign.

Gallagher’s scored seven goals during his loan spell with Blackburn so far, he also won the penalty against Huddersfield on Saturday that allowed Danny Graham to earn Rovers a point.

The Lancashire Telegraph reports this form has seen the 21-year-old catch the eye with Premier League and rivals Championship clubs? All are expressing an interest in signing Gallagher, when questioned about his spell at Ewood the boss said.

‘For me that`s a simple one, Sam Gallagher is an outstanding young player who is getting better and better. Southampton recognise that he is a very good player but they wanted him to improve which is why they loaned him to us. I would like to think that we have been able to help Sam on his journey and he loves being here.’

Would Southampton sell Gallagher? Coyle doesn’t think they would as they see him as part of their future plans with the striker benefiting from this loan with Blackburn, which the boss expects him to conclude before return to the Saints a better player.

‘I don`t see for one second why Southampton would be looking to sell Sam to anyone else and we obviously have the loan for the season. Southampton are delighted with how it`s going and I always said it was a win-win scenario because Sam gets a chance to play and show his quality, we get a very good young player, and Southampton, when he returns, get a better player back.’

Blackburn shouldn’t have any doubts about this loan as Gallagher’s playing and scoring regularly, which was the intention of this spell for all concerned anyway wasn’t it?

The chances of avoiding relegation are certainly improved if Rovers can keep him for the duration aren’t they, but will we?
