Rovers have lost their captain on deadline day, with Scott Dann leaving the club for Premier League side Crystal Palace in a deal thought to be worth around £2m.

Dann took his time settling in at Rovers, but since taking on the captaincy role has been a steady performer and has formed a very dependable partnership with Grant Hanley at the heart of the Rovers defence this season.

But with the club on a mass cost cutting drive this transfer window due to fears over FFP, the option has been taken to sell Dann to the highest bidder, with his wages very high for the English second tier.

This has left Matt Kilgallon and Grant Hanley as the club’s two recognised centre backs, with injury likely to leave the likes of Corry Evans and Jason Lowe there to fill in.

I’d like to wish Scott Dann all the best for the future and thank him for his service to the club during his time here.
