Blackburn Rovers may have succumbed to a surprise 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town on Wednesday Evening but this does not concern Rovers Boss Mark Hughes at all.

The defeat to the League One side is obviously not something anyone would have wanted but Hughes is more interested in the positives he could draw from the match and is seeing it in the grander scale of things, as it was ultimately another much which proved a valuable run out for the majority of his first team squad.

Hughes told the Official Blackburn Rovers website:

It was a good opportunity to get some game time into the majority of the squad.

“Prior to this game I had really been concentrating on the team that was likely to play in the Intertoto games so some of the guys had missed out on game time, so tonight was an opportunity to get some playing time into them.

“It was a great result for Huddersfield because they’ve won the game against a Premier League side. From our point of view we don’t particularly enjoy that but it is of no great concern.

“We weren’t particularly happy with the goals we conceded or the referee’s lack of decisions prior to the goals going in.

“I thought it was a good workout for us, Huddersfield played well on the night and caused us a few problems but it was a good run out.
