As has seemed inevitable for sometime Blackburn Rovers defender Michael Gray has left Ewood Park.

Former England International Gray, 32, has been subject to all manor of speculation linking him with moves away from Ewood for most of the current season. After being restricted to a mere 13 first team appearances this season, despite having a good run of form during November, Gray has been deemed surplus to requirements and gone on an initial one-month loan to Leeds United. The Championship side have the option to extend the loan until the end of the season should they wish.

Gray returns to Elland Road having spent a loan spell with the Championship side during the 2004-2005 season when he fell out of favour under former Rovers boss Graeme Souness.

It is unlikely that Gray will play for Rovers again even if he does return from his loan spell, as it is almost certain he will leave in the summer. Recent speculation has seen him linked with a return to Scottish Giants Celtic as well as Premiership rivals Everton.

Meanwhile Rovers striker Francis Jeffers looks set to return to Ipswich Town.

The one time England International had his loan spell with Championship side Ipswich cut short through injury, but it is thought that Mark Hughes will allow him to return to Portman Road to continue his rehabilitation.
