Reports today are claiming that Blackburn Rovers defensive duo Andy Todd and Michael Gray are set to quit Ewood Park.

As we all know what is written in the newspapers and what actually happens aren’t always the same but today’s Daily Mirror is saying both players will be looking for moves away soon. Personally this isn’t a surprise to me, if indeed it is any of us especially where Todd is concerned.

32-year-old Todd has failed to play one minute of first team football since putting in his transfer request following Mark Hughes’ decision to drop him for the Premiership game with Chelsea in August. Injury ruled him out for a while but since recovering from this he has rarely made the squad of sixteen for matches let alone played.

Todd was an unused substitute for the game with Chelsea on Wednesday and although the one time Rovers captain would run through brick walls for the cause the writing has been on the wall for sometime. With first team football in the starting eleven let alone match day squads not assured (which at this stage in his career is needed) chances are Todd will move on sooner rather than later?

Michael Gray, also 32 played the opening games of the season but since has rarely figured making the bench a few times, but has only gained a few minutes of first team football since as a very late substitute.

With Gray not even named in the squad to face Chelsea even with Lucas Neill reverting back to right-back leaving the left-back berth available Jay McEveley was preferred. I’ve constantly said that I felt Gray will leave in the summer but with him being at a similar stage of his career to Todd a move away as soon as January, possibly on loan is very possible.
