Rovers do India

Rovers are on their way to India in their pre-season preparations as they look to strengthen links in the homeland of owner’s Venky’s.

The owners and the club have not yet formally announced details of the trip to India but it is expected to take place prior to Rovers competing in the Barclays Asia Trophy which pits Rovers against Aston Villa (shock horror I know).

Furthermore, reports coming out of India are implying that Rovers are to pick two young Indian players from the trip to come and train with the youth academy at Brockhall as the owners look to build up a big fanbase in their native land for Blackburn.

Rovers` co owner Balaji Rao, told the Lancashire Telegraph – ‘I want to build a big fan base for Blackburn Rovers in India.

“Within one-and-a-half years we are coming up with an academy and a stadium in Pune. It will be known as Blackburn Academy Pune.”

And there I was thinking friendlies against Morecambe and Accrington would suffice?
