Blackburn Rovers had to be content with another Pre-Season draw as we came from behind to draw 1-1 with League One side Bury on Monday evening at Gigg Lane.

Rovers were once again without Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede as they continue to recovery from injuries (aka await Rovers exits a cynical person would says!!), however, there was a start for former Aston Villa and England U21 International Nathan Delfouneso with him getting an extended trial following his goal at Oldham Athletic on Saturday afternoon.

Delfouneso was one of those, along with John O’Sullivan that could’ve given Rovers an early lead but both were denied by Bury’s loan goalkeeper form Brighton & Hove Albion Christian Walton. Lee Williamson (who doesn’t score many) almost scored his second of Pre-Season, however, his effort hit the crossbar.

Bury were the side to take the lead in the first half (soon after Williamson’s effort hit the bar) when The Shakers prolific former Port Vale striker (signing this summer on a FREE Transfer) Tom Pope was able to beat David Raya but Rovers weren’t going to be denied with Craig Conway continuing his Pre-Season goalscoring form (we might have to rely on his this season!!) with his latest goal to equalise in the second half from twenty five yards.

As well as Rhodes and Gestede missing out Gary Bowyer was also without the injured Corry Evans, Chris Brown, Darragh Lenihan and Chris Taylor and again summer signings Fode Koita and Sacha Petshi weren’t involved. Rovers did however have Ben Marshall returning, his missing Oldham on Saturday would’ve left some speculating about his future. He was simply ill with Delfouneso getting seventy eight minutes from this match.

Rovers also included another new trialists face with former Liverpool and Newcastle United midfielder Danny Guthrie in the squad, he came on in the second half.

The final friendly ahead of the 2015-2016 season will come at Ewood Park on Saturday when we face Wigan Athletic but then it’s the return of the real thing as The SkyBet Championship gets underway against Wolverhampton Wanderers, the question is will Rovers be ready?? Maybe the bigger question who from the wanted men will remain at Rovers!!
