Blackburn Rovers Chairman John Williams is hopeful that injured duo Andre Ooijer and Robbie Savage could return to action this season.

Williams has said that both players are making good progress following surgery on injuries that were believed to be season ending. Dutch International Ooijer sustained a broken fibula and torn angle ligaments against Manchester City in January, whilst former Welsh International Savage broke his leg a few days later against Watford.

Speaking to Sky Sports News Williams said:

His [Savage’s] operation went well, as did Andre Ooijer’s who also got a broken leg. They have both got chances [of playing before the end of the season].

If we can continue in all three competitions we will need every player.”

A return for Savage had been spoken of before but a return for Ooijer is very surprising news to me. Hopefully the pair can return and return in time to help us in our quest to win some silverware in the shape of the FA and UEFA Cup’s and aid in our quest for a top five of six League finish.

Will their returns; if indeed they do return this season come in time to help us gain some silverware or push on for the European place via the League or would returns just be token gestures as they season ends? Leave your thoughts below…
