Rovers have bought DJ Campbell back into first team training, a few days after his Millwall loan spell was cut short.

Campbell, who still has match-fixing allegations hanging over his head, had his loan spell with Millwall terminated prematurely after the London club decided to call time on his half-season loan.

Under the terms of the loan Rovers cannot put Campbell back into their own squad which leaves the former Blackpool man in limbo until next term.

But Gary Bowyer has allowed DJ to train with the club, and expects the striker to help spur the team on to an unlikely play-off spot by helping around the training ground.

‘DJ has come back to us and he`s training with us,” said Bowyer to the Lancashire Telegraph.

“He`s a good pro and with his experience he can help around the training ground.

“DJ has never been a problem for us.

“He`s a bubbly character that`s got the experience and know-how of what it`s like at this stage of the season.’

“So, although he can`t play for us, his contribution on the training ground can be massive.’
