The draw, made a few minutes ago was seeded with Rovers guaranteed to avoid the likes of Burnley, Nottingham Forest and Leeds.
But a tricky midweek trip is now the prospect.
Other highlights of the draw sees Preston face local rivals Blackpool and Burnley being pitted against York City.
