What went down at last night’s Rovers Fans Open Meeting hosted by our very own Glen Mullan and Simon Littler

As you may well have been aware (and where have you been if you haven’t been), there was a fans meeting last night ahead of Sunday’s protest march and sit in for fans to air their views and concerns about the well being of Blackburn Rovers.

Hosted in Uncle Jack’s House in Lower Darwen there was a healthy crowd there to discuss the ins and outs of the current goings on at the club.

Amongst the guests at the meeting to air their views were Andy Cryer of the Lancashire Telegraph, Sky TV, Duncan Miller who is a head figure with the Rovers Supporters Trust and Wayne Wild who is Managing Director of Blackburn’s principle sponsor at WEC.

Some of the fans invited on the recent Pune trip were also in attendance with Glen describing the input from all at the meeting as ‘of good quality’.

The aim of the meeting was for attendees to contribute their own concerns about the current predicament at the club so it could be documented and communicated with the owners of Rovers and the executives at Ewood Park.

During the meeting Glen did a one hour briefing whilst also taking questions for a further hour on top of that (lord only knows how his voice was holding up after that) and some great points were made.

Mainly fans were covering issues for the club to respond to such as –

– The lack of communication at the club. If you want to speak to someone about a club matter who do you contact?

Furthermore the response times of those in positions of power at the club seem to be excruciatingly slow… is there a way to remedy this and regain focus?

– The weak infrastructure at the club. The lack of a Chief Executive or a Chairman at Rovers who are visibly in England full time is raising problems.

Are the club aware of this? And do they have a plan to improve the control and day to day running of Blackburn Rovers?

– The Rovers manager. Despite Steve Kean’s pleas to the contrary the opposition to his role at the club is not a minority of fans.

He has problems on the pitch and also with his communication with the Blackburn support/faithful.

Most want him sacked but the club are still very strongly in his favour. Why? Are our objections even noted?

These are all aspects of the club that were put forward by those in attendance and the meeting can considered to be a success.

A big well done to all involved.
