Rovers Fletcher link is laughable

Finally. Finally, someone has come out and removed this ‘Steven Fletcher is in line for a move to Blackburn Rovers’ nonsense.

It was always likely to be a throwaway bit of gossip for a number of reasons.

The Lancashire Telegraph, the press and Sky Sports have today accepted that the move will not happen and I for one am pleased.

Think about it –

* The man is a (soon to be ) former Burnley player.

* He spent most of last season in a withdrawn role out on the wing, a position which does not need filling.

* He scored 8 league goals, yes I know we are hardly raking them in but still, for the money we could do much better.

* He is reported to be on the market for £6.5 million, which is roughly the entire summer budget.

*He is not really what the media love to call a ‘Sam type of player’.

Time to move on.
