Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce could be set to move for Portsmouth striker David Nugent.

Rovers have been linked in the summer with two on loan Pompey strikers from last season but the one that seems to be in the frame is a man that plays for Pompey but was out on loan elsewhere in 2009/10 – keep up!

The Sunday Mirror is the most vocal claiming the Rovers boss will take a risk on the Portsmouth striker who has struggled in the Premier League ever since his move to the South Coast in 2007.

Nugent at the time cost £6 million when bought in white hot form from Lancashire Preston North End by financially astute Portsmouth but wouldn’t cost anywhere that much now.

Rumour has it Pompey want £3 million but Rovers boss Sam Allardyce believes that they would actually far less such is the need for funds down in Hampshire.

But the main question is how will the Blackburn faithful react to a player who spent the whole of last season on loan at Burnley?
