Blackburn Rovers are one of 4 clubs in the race to sign Sweden winger Sebastian Larsson.

Larsson is available on a free transfer due to his contract expiring at recently relegated Birmingham City, and a host of Premier League clubs are in the chase for the right wingers signature.

Rovers along with Newcastle, Wigan and Sunderland have made an offer, and are waiting to hear back from the player.

The players agent has said:

‘We have the international games coming up. Sweden have got two qualifiers for the European Championships so Seb and the other players have to have their concentration on them.

‘But after those games, we will be sorting out his future pretty quickly. By the first or second week in June, everything should be sorted out.

‘There have been four clubs from the Premier League who have made approaches. There is no problem finding a club in this case. The problem is sorting out which club it is.

Fingers crossed it is Rovers who he chooses!

Things could go in Rovers favour for a change with regards to links between the club and Kentaro due to the fact that Sebastian Larsson’s agent – Per Jonsson works for them.

  • he would be a good signing for us, but I think he’ll rejoin Bruce at Sunderland, they will probably pay bigger wages and he knows the fat lad well.

  • Hope he signs, would be a great addition to the squad. Like the idea of John Carew signing Rover23 as well as long as he stays reasonably fit he’s a major threat in the air with good service from a player like Larsson.

  • Not too fussed either way, Never eally rated him tbh. but as a free transfer not too much of a gamble although Carew a defo no no

  • why not? but still think with hoilett and emerton covering the right wing, we”d be better served getting some creativity in the cente or back up for ollson on the left (seeing as gamst can’t be that person any more)…

  • I would say we are second choice out of those clubs with Sunderland most likely. I would be very happy to have him as he could massively improve our set pieces… Direct free kicks have been a poor source of goals for a while now!

  • I’d be happy for him to join. He’s always struck me as a decent enough player, but I don’t see him being first choice, so would he come to Ewood to sit on the bench?

  • Don’t think he’d be sitting on our bench if he signed, not signing is what I see as being more likely but would like to be wrong as I think he’d be a superb signing.
