The usual batch of International friendlies are underway this midweek and no doubt we will be hearing how they are a waste of time by ‘insert Premier League managers name here’ but last night saw some interesting developments.
The main news is that Keith Andrews was involved in a friendly match against the much hyped Brazil. Our Keith even got on the score sheet… but at the the wrong end.
Brazil won 2-0 in the end and to be fair, bar the own goal, Keith was actually pretty good marking Kaka and a few other Samba boys.
Steven N’Zonzi’s France Under 21’s beat Niko Kalinic’s Crotian equivalent 3-1 in a cracking match.
Niko played the first 45 minutes and N’Zonzi only got 7 minutes at the end so their paths didn’t cross which is a shame but never mind.
Johnny Flynn was in the always luxury destination of San Marino as they beat the Marinans 3-0 in the Under 21s.
And Martin ‘I’m actually good now’ Olsson was impressive as the Swedish youngsters saw off a strong Portugal side 2-0.
So not a bad night on the whole bar an Andrews mistake.
