Rovers appear to have joined a three team race to sign Manchester City defender Nedhum Onuoha.

Speculation has been on and off all summer that Rovers would move for the man who was on loan at Sunderland last season and it seems that they finally have.

Two other clubs are in the race to sign Nedhum with QPR and Everton also submitting bids for the player.

The players agent confirmed that interest in Onuoha was high.

‘I’m not surprised at this level of interest, because Nedum has proven that he’s a very good player’ Kia Joorabchian (yes, that one) told BBC Sport.

But with Rovers able to offer bigger wages than Everton at present and QPR meaning a total relocation for the defender would that put Rovers in pole position?
