Rovers Keane On Michael Again

One of the areas that I personally feel (as do many of us) Blackburn Rovers are still a little light in is defence.

More to the point my personal opinion (again, the same for most of us I think) is that we could do with a little more added to the central defensive options if at all possible before the season kicks off next month.

Michael Keane would be an ideal signing that I’d doubt few would be opposed to.

Gary Bowyer has admitted that he’d like to bring the twenty-one-year-old back to Ewood Park from Manchester United if at all possible, however, he also believes that Louis van Gaal is likely to give the England Under-21 International a chance during pre-season to prove himself worthy of a place in his squad at Old Trafford this season.

Should van Gaal decide that another season away from Old Trafford would be the best thing for Keane then Bowyer plans to be at the head of the queue (which I’d expect to be quite a long one) to borrow him.

There’s some speculation that Burnley are also interested and as much as they can offer him Premier League Football I’m not so sure how being part of a defence that’s likely to concede quite a lot of goals and lose a fair amount of matches would benefit his development?? Leicester City (another of his former loan clubs) could be interested again as well, however, it seemed a good fit for him at Ewood last season.

With the (virtual) promise of First Team football regularly (and at a good level with a club that’ll be doing well this season) I’d like to think that United would be willing to let him come back to Ewood and Keane would also be keen on this and see the merits to a full season in the Championship.

The loan market is something that Bowyer wants to utilise and what a superb loan signing Keane would be once again if we’re able to pull this one off.

Another area that the Rovers Manager is meant to want to strengthen is another goalkeeper?? In my honest opinion I see this as far from a priority area to bring in another player as we have three goalkeepers already, with at least two of them more than capable of being our number one this season.
