One club man Ronnie Clayton, who spent his entire playing career at Blackburn Rovers, has sadly passed away at the age of 76.

Clayton was an England captain during his time and was widely regarded as one of the best players of his generation and his connection to Rovers is as strong as anyone in living memory.

He can easily lay claim to being one of the most popular men in Blackburn Rovers history.

Rovers chairman John Williams said on the clubs official website – ‘Everyone at Ewood Park is deeply saddened by the news.

‘Ronnie was not only a wonderful servant and ambassador, he was also one of the most popular men ever to be associated with Rovers.

‘No one had a bad word for Ronnie and he will be so very sadly missed.

‘Our deepest sympathies go out to Val and all of Ronnie’s family at this saddest of times.’

Respects will be paid before tomorrows game against Chelsea, expect a cracking send off for a proper legend. RIP Ronnie.
