Rovers Let Two Go On Deadline Day

So the January transfer window has slammed shut, Blackburn Rovers didn’t add to their earlier captures but two players did go out on loan.

David Dunn returned to Rovers from Birmingham for a fee around £2 million, Stephen Warnock from Liverpool for £1.5 million, Christopher Samba for £500,000 (or thereabouts) from Hertha Berlin and Bruno Berner for a nominal fee from Basle all in the latter part of the transfer window. All four signings are International standard (past or present, mainly present!) so will be very good additions to the squad all bringing with them experience as well as youth mainly, Berner being the oldest at 29.

No further arrivals came in at the last despite many of us thinking they would due to the fact Rovers could be severely lacking in midfield numbers should (god forbid!) anything happen to any of our midfielders, but in Mark Hughes we trust as always, he’s rarely wrong.

Those leaving Ewood Park on deadline day were Andy Taylor and Tony Kane. Taylor being sent out on loan again this time to League One side Huddersfield Town until March following a loan spell with Crewe Alexandra earlier in the season with Kane going to our “feeder club” Cercle Brugge for the remainder of the current campaign, this followed a spell with Stockport County previously this term.

Have Rovers missed a trick by not attempting to bring in anyone else, have they missed out by not letting anyone else go, leave you comments below…
