Rovers Links To Keeper & Defender

Blackburn Rovers have been linked to a Championship goalkeeper and a French defender over the weekend, but neither looks that likely to be coming to Ewood Park anytime soon?!?!

The goalkeeper in question is Barnsley’s 29-year-old Heinz Muller, who has been performing superbly for the Championship club this season, helping them in their rise up the table. However, with three senior International goalkeepers already here (OK Brad Friedel is a former International!) with several promising youngsters also coming through, including Frank Fielding (who is held in the highest regard by Friedel) another goalkeeper arriving is VERY highly unlikely, so this appears to be a non-starter?

Sebastien Bassong, a 21-year-old defender currently playing for Metz revealed at the weekend that interest from Rovers (as well as Aston Villa and Everton) was flattering for him, and he could consider a move to England at the end of the season, but not before.

Bassong told the Sunday Mirror: “I won’t leave Metz before the end of the season, but then I’ll sit down and take stock.

“I am flattered to know that such big clubs are interested in me, but right now I’ll concentrate on trying to get Metz out of trouble
.”

The French Under-21 International is understood to have been watched by scouts from all three clubs this season. However, Rovers have since denied any interest.

Meanwhile there is some news today that Hull City could be interested in taking Maceo Rigters on loan?

The Championship side are building quite an impressive squad with Jay Jay Okocha becoming one of the biggest names to sign in recent months. Word from our Vital Hull neighbours is that Hull manager Phil Brown has watched the Dutch striker and could make a bid to sign him on loan, something which Rigters himself has already expressed an interest in, and also something which Rovers chairman John Williams has admitted could happen.
