Blackburn Rovers are understood to have made an approach to Valencia for Joaquin.

Spanish reports understand that Rovers have launched a £9.5 million bid to bring the Spanish International to Ewood Park with Valencia’s president understood to have met with the 27-year-olds agent to discuss the reported offer, however, Joaquin’s team mate Alexis feels that the winger is happy where he is.

Alexis told AS: “In the dressing room he is always the same – cheerful.

“I do not think we have any problems.

“He does not want to go, he is very happy in Valencia and I would not want him to leave because to have a person like him in the dressing room is a joy.

“I get along very well with him.“

What a SUPERB signing this would be IF we could pull it off, and it would certainly shut sum people up!!! The player’s agent has since said that Joaquin is happy in Spain but wasn’t ruling out a move.

Meanwhile Rovers are also understood to be close to completing a deal for Vince Grella.

Australia are in England to play a friendly against South Africa at Loftus Road so it is being reported that we have held talks with the 28-year-old, who could complete his £4 million switch to Rovers from Torino in time to feature against Hull City on Saturday.

  • One or both of these would be superb!!! Personally I don’t think that we’ll get Joaquin, but would be very happy with Grella.

  • Good god if we sign Grella we’ll never hear the end of it from Sas will we?!?!? lol… Joaquin would be excellent but won’t believe it till I see it.

  • Grella has excellent pedigree and would be a top signing. Joaquin would be outa this world!!!! Even if we dont get him then this signals our ntentions and ambitions!!! Nice one Rovers!!!!

  • Grella is a good payer, I was in Oz for the 06 WC and he was one of their best players along woth Bresciano. As for Joaquin, no dis-respect but I couldnt see him going to you. If he came to England he would be only interested in the ‘top 4’ IMO.

  • I can’t see us getting Joaquin but would bloody love it if we did…what a signing it could be. Happy too with Grella although he has said today that he hasn’t heard anything.
