NEW vital Blackburn member MikeyGamst’s mid season report on the Blackburn Rovers squad, concluding with our forwards.

Hey all, first post on this new forum. So thought I’d introduce myself with a little run down of how I thought each member of team has been doing this year.

Benni McCarthy – The goals have dried up recently as he is being forced to come deeper for the ball but the class remains. His turns and touches are magnificent and he has the ‘Michael Owen’ right place, right time knack which is priceless. Yes he could time his runs better but if someone had said to you he would have 7 goals by now – you would have taken it.

Shabani Nonda – He needs goals for confidence and looks a little shy in front of goal but he has strength, holds the ball up well and provides an outlet to the midfield. People are jumping on his back saying he aint good enough but that’s absolute rubbish. The goals will come as he works hard for the team and gives us height up front.

Francis Jeffers – We can’t lose on this one kids. He is on a performance related contract, so if he turns out to be really bad as 85% of rovers fans expect then so what? He HAS shown promise and took a penalty like McCarthy, Roberts and Neill should have taken there’s prior to his. He is a bit too thin but as a fourth striker we have seen worse.

Jason Roberts – This guy should be in the starting line up. He has pace and power in abundance. What a shame about the injury because the goals would flow for the team not just ourselves if he were fit.

Paul Gallagher – Is a second striker, but has been played on right wing. He looks lively and has some good touches but his only hindrance is that he suffers from Francis Jeffers’ syndrome of being too skinny. Does play with confidence and should be given more of a chance with the goals not flowing.

Let me know what you think and hello to all. Mikey
