Vital Blackburn’s most recent poll asked, “Rovers Man of the Match vs. Sunderland?” Roque Santa Cruz.

Once again (with it either him or Brad Friedel most of the time) Santa Cruz was the man voted Man of the Match against Sunderland last Saturday, with his 49% making him a clear winner, and rightly so with the hand he had in the first goal, and bagged the second himself.

Only one man, David Bentley (with 18%) after a fine display and a goal to boot even came close, but even so he still finished some way behind. The rest who were much the same as each other.

So in summary
B Friedel – 5%
B Emerton – 8%
C Samba – 5%
A Ooijer – 5%
S Warnock – 3%
D Bentley – 18%
Tugay – 1%
A Mokoena – 3%
D Dunn – 1%
M Derbyshire – 1%
R Santa Cruz – 49%
M G Pedersen (Sub 66mins) – 0%
R Savage (Sub 75mins) – 0%
M Rigters (Sub 86mins) – 1%

  • Santa Cruz was a clear and deserving winning but once again I’m a little disappointed to see one man voted so far ahead, as he wasn’t as far ahead as they poll may suggest was he?!?!

  • thes MOTM awards are really stackin up for mr santa cruz fair play i was unsure when he arrived but why he has been class for us!

  • It’s either Santa or Bradders getting them isn’t it, if not these two the Wall, I’m pretty sure these are the only guys to win these votes this season so far?!?!

  • According to Richard Dinnis (Radio Lancs) Bentley was awesome. Playing in ‘the hole’ behind their midfield and in front of the defence. Hard to pick up.

  • He has played much better since being given more of a free role… I think this suits him best and it has shown so far… he is again gonna be a big player for us!!!
