Blackburn Rovers have lost one of our own with it revealed former goalkeeper Fred Else has passed away. The eighty-two-year-old spent five years at Ewood Park in the 1960’s.

The Official Blackburn Rovers Website brought us this sad news on Monday.

Else would’ve been before my time on this planet as I wasn’t even a twinkle in my Daddy’s eye when he left Ewood in 1966 to join Barrow after making 221 appearances for Rovers let alone when he’d signed in August 1961 from Preston North End for £20,000 (at that time a huge amount of money I’d say!!)

An England B International when he arrived Else was regarded as a player that should’ve played for the England side.

Else eventually became the Barrow Manager before moving into teaching and retiring to Cyprus.

May he R.I.P with our condolences with his family and friends.
