Rovers net double friendly win

Rovers sent out two teams over the weekend, both a mixture of first teamers and the young lads to kick start the pre-season in strange fashion.

Two friendlies took place at the same, on against Fleetwood Town and one against Southport, both featuring the mighty Blue and White Army.

To make matters all the sweeter Blackburn won both matches quite comfortably although it has to be said that both non-league outfits were tremendously committed and well organised.

Over at Fleetwood goals from Jason Roberts in the first half and a second period notch from the Zonz saw us coast to a 2-0 win… both goals were headers from a cross in open play.

And in the haven that is Southport, goals from Pascal Chimbonda, Maceo Rigters (remember him?) and an absolute belter of a volley from David Dunn racked up a 3-0 success.

Dunny’s goal for reference was hit on the volley from 40/45 yards!

The most interesting thing to come out of the game though was that both teams played a 3-5-2 formation with wing backs – a coincidence or a sign???
