Rovers Not Rushing Nelsen Back

Asked on Friday who most Blackburn Rovers fans thought was most likely to return out of Ryan Nelsen and Roque Santa Cruz, I think nine out of ten would have probably said Nelsen. However, as we know this was not the case with Santa Cruz being the man that did.

Rovers manager Mark Hughes has moved quickly to explain why God was not among the Rovers squad for Saturday’s 4-2 win over Reading, saying that he wants to make sure he is one hundred percent at where he has to be, as a player of God’s importance can’t be rushed back, if he is then we could be in trouble.

Hughes said: “He was close in fairness, but I think it is a case that Andre Ooijer has done exceptionally well in place of Ryan so there isn’t that urgency to get him back.

“We have to be a little careful with Ryan, but the extra week will do him good
.”

I don’t mean to belittle Reading at all (as I honestly do like the club, and think they are a good team) but with them being the opponents this was possibly more reason why not to have rushed him back, with Premier League games against Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Manchester United coming up.
