Paul Ince has declared that Rovers would like to sign Steven Appiah after he left Turkish football but there is one problem – he is asking for too much in his pay packet.

“It is a transitional period for us,” said the new Rovers boss, speaking to Sky Sports.

“We don’t have the resources that other teams have. Players like Appiah might be free agents but they still want wages of around £60,000 a week.

‘I’ve known about him since he was at Juventus a few years ago but players like that ask for the world and we just can’t compete.”

I am sure Paul is making the right call here. We have to stay within budget restrictions. We would have to break the club wage structure to even think about signing him and it wouldn’t be worth it.

Numerous players would be upset that they get paid less and would affect the club in the long run.

The right call I feel.
