Blackburn youngsters Matty Platt and Connor Thomson have left for loan spells with Barrow.

The pair have joined up with the National League side until the end of the season where they’ll look to get the benefit of first team football.

19 year old defender Platt and Thompson – a 21 year old midfielder – have been involved in the EFL Trophy for Blackburn this season but haven’t technically made a first team appearance for Rovers.

Academy graduate Platt and Thompson – who signed a new two and a half year deal recently – signed from Carlisle after a trial at the December in 2014 will stay with Barrow until 29th April.

Striker Anthony Stokes had also been linked with a Blackburn exit. The Irishman has failed to start a game since August and has been left out of the past three Rovers squads. He was also linked with a loan return to Hibs last month.

However, a reported loan move to Polish club Jagiellonia Bialystok has been played down by Owen Coyle with the boss telling the Lancashire Telegraph.

‘I can only imagine it`s speculation. There`s certainly been no dialogue with anyone regarding Anthony going to Poland or otherwise’
