Rovers have continued their pre-season preparations with two victories on the same day, one at Crewe Alexandra and one at Brockhall against a Fleetwood Town side.

In the summer evening sunset a Rovers XI side containing the likes of Jordan Rhodes, Chris Taylor and Scott Dann picked up a hard fought win at the Alexandra Stadium against a vibrant Crewe side with Grant Hanley scoring the decisive goal against his former side. The Scot’s 11th minute header from a Ruben Rochina cross ultimately settled the contest, although Rovers did have Jake Kean and then Matty Urwin to thank for some fine goalkeeping to keep the scoresheet blank down for the home side.

Earlier in the day another Rovers side triumphed 4-1 in a low key friendly at the Rovers training base with goals coming from DJ Campbell, who bagged twice, Leon Best and Josh King.

Rovers pre-season continues with a trip to Rochdale on Saturday before tackling Preston the following Tuesday.
