Blackburn Rovers have played down reports that striker Matt Derbyshire has suffered a serious injury, which could keep him sidelined for some time.

Derbyshire picked up a thigh injury in training for the England Under-21’s, an injury that meant he was forced to sit out the 1-1 draw with Portugal on Tuesday Evening. However, despite reports that this could be a serious injury and he might be out until 2008 and could even miss “a large chunk of the season” Rovers are playing down such fears, and it is understood that the injury isn’t as serious as these thoughts suggest.

The Rovers medical team are going to be examining Derbs today at Brockhall, after this we will have a clearer idea of how long we could be without him (fingers crossed though!!!)
