Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Ince is poised to complete his latest purchase after Rovers agreed a fee with Northampton Town for goalkeeper Mark Bunn.

The 23-year-old is one of the most highly rated goalkeepers in the lower leagues and had been linked with Manchester City previously, with him also having a trial with our Premier League rivals last season according to some reports. It is understood that Bunn will undergo a medical over the weekend before completing his signing for an undisclosed amount.

Personally I’m surprised that we are bringing in a new goalkeeper as in Jason Brown (and several youngsters) I thought we had enough cover for Paul Robinson, but in Ince I trust! However, although I’ve never actually seen Bunn play I have only ever heard VERY good things about him.

  • He’s rated as one of the best goalkeepers around, so although I don’t think we need a new goalkeeper he will be a very good signing.

  • Why does everyone think we have too many keepers?
Surely Bunn is a straight replacement for Enckelman?
Listening to the match now, it sounds like Bunn may get a chance soon. Robinson is still handling nervously, though the first goal error was initially Sambas, it sounds like Robinson could have saved if he had been positioned correctly. Samba and the defence sound to be worse than last season, despite our new defensive coach!
