After a midweek which saw Blackburn Rovers slip into the bottom three its time for a little light relief, although the amusement factor does appear to be wearing off within the club.

This club have just sent me another press release (below) detailing the mildly amusing story I speak of, although as I say it appear the humorous value is beginning to be lost…

CAN YOU ADAM N’ EVE IT!
Blackburn Rovers on the hunt for the mystery prankster

Officials at Blackburn Rovers have been left baffled about why a giant sticker on one of its advertising billboards keeps being removed.

The advertisement is a massive reproduction of Rovers loyalty scheme, The Card, and is displayed under a railway bridge just outside the town centre on Darwen Street.

One of the elements of The Card is a sticker that says Eve, which is a shortened abbreviation for Everton FC, and this keeps disappearing.

The marketing team at Blackburn suspect someone called Eve or someone with a girlfriend or wife of the same name may be the culprit.

The giant card has seven numbers on it and after each home match the Blackburn marketing team add another sticker to the card but Eve has now gone missing on three occasions since the Everton match in August.

Head of Marketing and Sales, Simon Williams comments:

We are baffled why anybody would want the Eve sticker but someone is obviously desperate for it and we’ve now had to replace it three times.

From our point of view it’s now becoming a pain and we are now asking for it to be left alone. If someone is really that desperate for the Eve sticker then we can discuss making a giant one for them to keep.”

The Card is just one of the innovative ways Rovers marketing team are trying to encourage more fans to come to matches and other initiatives have included a talking bus stop and price reductions for certain matches.

All I can say is If it isn’t glued, nailed or screwed down nowadays it appears people will take anything…
