Blackburn Rovers are taking a weekend away from The Championship for our FA Cup Fourth Round tie with Swansea City at Ewood Park this lunchtime.

If I could swap an FA Cup run for an assured place in the play-offs it goes without saying that I’d do this but you can’t beat an FA Cup run so as I’m (usually) the optimist can’t we have both??

It’s quite a while since we last met in the FA Cup this was with us the home side again but Swansea won 2-0 in 1955, unlike us though they’ve not won the FA Cup before (we’ve won this six times) with the furthest that they’ve gone the Semi-Finals.

Crystal Palace continue (or do they??) to “target” Rudy Gestede but as he’s not made this exit yet he’s still involved in Gary Bowyer’s squad. We can’t include Bolton Wanderers loanee Alex Baptiste though as he’s not been granted permission to play for us in the FA Cup. Tommy Spurr (groin) could well play a part for the first time this season, however, I’d be very surprised if he started but one that could may well be Simon Eastwood in place of Jason Steele.

A £5million signing, we’d like to do that wouldn’t we!! Swansea are likely to include new signing from Tottenham Hotspur Kyle Naughton for his debut as he’s not cup-tied having not featured against Burnley in the Third Round. Wayne Routledge (calf) and Ashley Williams (shoulder) will miss out but Jefferson Montero (hamstring) could return after a month out.

The best chance we’ll have of winning this tie is likely to come at Ewood so we’ve got to take this chance today really and I’ll back us to make it into the Fifth Round.
