Blackburn Rovers are potentially ninety minutes away from an FA Cup Quarter Final, however, to achieve this we’ll have to overcome a Stoke City side managed by Mark Hughes.

Hughes has come back to Ewood Park since his departure for Manchester City (he’ll probably come back again), however, will we meet again with FA Cup glory within such touching distance again??

I’m bound to be tempting fate here but in our last twenty FA Cup ties at Ewood we’ve only lost two of them winning fourteen and drawing the remaining four, that’s an impressive record whatever way you look at it and whatever happens today!!

On the other hand Stoke haven’t lost any of their last six away ties in the FA Cup against lower league sides, winning five of those matches so the signs might be pointing to a draw!!

This will be the third FA Cup meeting with us both having won one each, both with a 1-0 scoreline.

Chris Taylor has been the Rovers go to man in the FA Cup this season so Gary Bowyer will likely bring him in again because Jay Spearing’s cup-tied and Jason Lowe’s out with injury again with David Dunn injured too. Simon Eastwood’s been entrusted with the gloves in the FA Cup this season and should keep his record with Jason Steele stepping aside.

Stoke have been managing a knee injury that Jonathan Walters has but he could come back in with Erik Pieters possibly back from a hernia injury too but injuries to Ryan Shawcross, Marc Wilson and Stephen Ireland will keep them out.

I can’t (I know that I probably should) quite let the play-off hopes go so I’m not sure if a continued FA Cup run would be a good or bad thing?? The FA Cup is special though so you wouldn’t not want to carry on would you??

If we’re going to get through I think we’ve got to do this today and also need to do this today to further prevent a fixture pileup and I think we might want it a little more than Stoke.
