Rovers Recall for Andy Todd?

Yet another Blackburn Rovers injury coupled with a suspension leaves Mark Hughes with a slight defensive headache ahead of the clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

With not only stand-in captain Lucas Neill out with a hamstring strain the suspension to Zurab Khizanishvili leaves Hughes with a few decisions to make.

Michael Gray will most likely come in at left-back for Neill but who comes in for Khizanishvili to partner Andre Ooijer is something harder for Hughes to ponder, with him considering a recall for Andy Todd. He said:

Andy Todd is certainly in my mind. I’ve got him, Stephane Henchoz, and one or two other good options at left back as well.

Whoever comes in needs to make an impact because it’s a tough game.”

Personally I’m not sure who I would pick out of Todd or Henchoz, but my thinking would be something along the lines of Todd is likely to leave in January and with Henchoz contracted until the summer he is most likely to be the longer term possibility so maybe he should come in? On the other hand other than training Hughes doesn’t really know Henchoz will offer first team football wise!

Hughes also has to decide who will become captain? Would Todd be handed the captains armband as well as a recall or will Tugay or Robbie Savage get the nod? After leading Holland in midweek maybe Andre Ooijer will be given the chance to lead Rovers for the first time? Once again I’m glad that I’m not the manager…
