Spurs have allegedly made an enquiry about taking back former keeper Paul Robinson.

Harry Redknapp is supposed to have contacted the powers that be at Ewood to request the England goalkeepers’ services.

He was then told in no uncertain terms to sling his hook – a smart move.

Robinson enjoyed a special relationship with the Spurs fans during his time at White Hart Lane but his form dipped alarmingly towards the end of his stay there.

Loss of form and confidence then resulted in him looking for a move elsewhere – ending up at Ewood Park in a £3.5 million move. Signed by then boss Paul Ince, Robinson has been getting steadily better and better in his Ewood Park career.

During Sam Allardyce’s reign Robinson has reverted back to the slim, athletic shot stopper that made him one of the best, with Bobby Mimms’ help, Robbo is back to his best, with many smart stops and commanding goalkeeping making him a firm favourite in the North West.

It is this sort of form that has prompted Allardyce and co to tell Redknapp his interest is not wanted – he has now turned his attention to David James.

Which is good news for us as in my eyes Robbo has never been this good and will be another worthy addition to the excellent group of goalkeepers that have flourised in East Lancashire. Robbo would be mad to back!
