In what appeared to be a very tough encounter, Blackburn faced a highly experienced Bolton outfit featuring several first squad players.

This quality showed with Bolton going of to a flier with a 2-0 lead at the break. Nielson made a string of fine saves, keeping Blackburn in the game. With Bolton dominating the first half, Treacy was the key man for Rovers, with his darting runs and crosses providing our main source of attack. Sergio Peter was back in action, attacking from the flanks and through the middle.

The second half was brighter for Rovers, with a goal coming through O’Keefe bringing the score to 2-1. Treacy limping of the field was a sign of concern, with Mark Hughes watching from the stands, he surely must of come into consideration for a first team spot.

Rovers had a much better performance in the second half, but could not find the equaliser, going down, 2-1
