Rovers Reserves Bring Home The Cup

Blackburn Rovers’ reserves won the Lancashire Senior Cup on Tuesday Evening after the eventual mauling of Bolton Wanderers.

Glyn Hodges’ troops eventually ran out convincing 6-2 winners over their Bolton counterparts to lift the Cup, but there was a down side to this, Sergio Peter was stretchered off after only five minutes after a heavy challenge. However, X-rays later revealed no serious damage, merely heavy bruising.

A hat trick from Joe Garner (another promising striker that I am hoping to get the chance in the next year or so that Matt Derbyshire did, as I GENUINELY think he could have a similar impact), and goals from another VERY highly rated youngster Raffaele De Vita, Andy Taylor and Alan Judge completed the rout.

It was not all one way traffic for Rovers though, as they were twice pegged back as the scored stood level 2-2 at half time, but in the second half the extra quality and experience Rovers possessed told as four goals were scored and the first piece of Silverware (hopefully not the only!!!) was won by the club this season.
