In what was destined to be a spiteful encounter, our Reserves took on Bolton at the County Ground in Leyland.

Rovers started of the brighter of the two, scoring on their first attacking opportunity. Following a corner taken by Keith Treacy, the ball was cleared out to Tony Kane who swiftly sent the ball back into the box. Another header sent the ball out to Keith Treacy, who sweetly struck the ball into the corner of the net.

Bolton almost clawed there way back into the game within moments, only a Nielsen save preventing an equaliser.

In what appeared to be a copy of several recent first team encounters between the two clubs, the referee was more involved then the opposing goal keepers. Foul after foul ended a stale first half with the Rovers holding a 1-0 lead.

The second half consisted of more of the same, with a total of 8 yellow cards handed out. On the hour, Rovers were reduced to ten men. After being fouled, Treacy lashed out and was immediately sent of.

Rovers continued to dominate, however, they managed to waste several opportunities to extend the lead. Rovers managed to hold out, leaving Bolton stranded without a win

  • The red card was NOT good for Treacy, but his talent can’t be denied, with the news that I’ve just heard that Sergio wants to go back to Germany it looks like Treacy is well and truely ahead of him in the race to challenge MGP now.

  • All the news outta the Ireland camp a while ago was that the fella that spotted Duff has said that Treacy is BETTER than Duff was at the same age, we can only hope!!!

  • Has anyone else heard that the Hammered are going to bid £5m plus add-ons for Derbyshire??? I hope its not true and I cant see the local lad leaving for West Ham of all teams, well I hope not but they have a tendacy to just throw money around albiet on a smaller scale than Chelsea

  • Yeah I’d heard that dude, the news about Treacy being better than Duff. I’d not heard the talk about the Hammered going for Derbs, I don’t think there is ANY truth behind that, it’s just come about because we play the Hammered next don’t we.

  • havent heard about the whole derbs thing, those hammered thinking they can raid us rovers, hope your right about treacy though

  • It was only a matter of time before the Hammered were linked with Derbs, they’ve been linked with virtually EVERYONE else!!!
