In what was destined to be a spiteful encounter, our Reserves took on Bolton at the County Ground in Leyland.

Rovers started of the brighter of the two, scoring on their first attacking opportunity. Following a corner taken by Keith Treacy, the ball was cleared out to Tony Kane who swiftly sent the ball back into the box. Another header sent the ball out to Keith Treacy, who sweetly struck the ball into the corner of the net.

Bolton almost clawed there way back into the game within moments, only a Nielsen save preventing an equaliser.

In what appeared to be a copy of several recent first team encounters between the two clubs, the referee was more involved then the opposing goal keepers. Foul after foul ended a stale first half with the Rovers holding a 1-0 lead.

The second half consisted of more of the same, with a total of 8 yellow cards handed out. On the hour, Rovers were reduced to ten men. After being fouled, Treacy lashed out and was immediately sent of.

Rovers continued to dominate, however, they managed to waste several opportunities to extend the lead. Rovers managed to hold out, leaving Bolton stranded without a win
