1-0 or 10-0, whatever result the end product was the same, Blackburn secured a win over Crewe to book a place in the third round of the FA Cup, where we’ll face Championship side Hull.

In all honesty Rovers should have got the job done at the first attempt, having seen the game put back 24 hours – due to weather conditions – a Danny Graham goal midway through the first half proved enough.

Tony Mowbray was very much taking the ‘job done’ approach.

He told the Official Website: ‘The main thing is that we’re into the next round. The players worked extremely hard and put a lot into the game tonight. Crewe went very direct late on, but we’re pleased to be through to the third round.’

Keeping the winning momentum going and coming through the game without any injures was the main thing for the boss.

‘We created some great opportunities, though some didn’t materialise into scoring chances. It was okay, there was lots of good stuff. It was a terrible night for football during the first half, the weather was something we had to overcome as well, but there are no injuries,’ added Mowbray.

Mowbray admitted he was concerned this game could have been ‘a burden’ had this ‘dragged into next week’ if it had to be postpone. However, now a place in the next round to start the New Year was confirmed we now look ‘to recover for Charlton at the weekend’ and the continued assault on League One promotion, which is the number one priority.
