Rovers are in the midst of not just adding to the playing staff but also the boardroom as well.

The club has been a bit rudderless since John Williams left his role as chairman back in early 2011 but that looks to be rectified with the appointment of former professional player Simon Hunt as a ‘Sporting Director’.

The Lancashire Telegraph is reporting – ‘The 49-year-old`s role will be to assist player recruitment at Ewood Park and help with the running of the club.

Hunt has previously been the sporting director at West Brom and, more recently, has been head of international scouting at Ipswich Town, and Portsmouth`s chief scout.’

Just to avoid any confusion, this is not an appointment aimed at the much maligned ‘Director of Football’ role ala Dennis Wise.

It is merely to facilitate the process of combining on field development with that of the commercial side of the club.
