Blackburn have added to their promising Youth Academy with the signing of forward Zac Aley from Southport.

The 18-year-old forward has signed for Rovers after impressing on trial and again displays the commitment of Sam Allardyce to a strong youth programme.

The man himself, Aley, is delighted to have made the short move to Blackburn after a great start to his young career.

Zac, speaking to Rovers.co.uk said – ‘I’d been playing for Southport and I was aware that scouts had been coming down to watch now and again,’

‘I’d been down to the Blackburn Academy during last year for a trial, so I was surprised and happy that they were taking a look at me again.

‘I was then invited down for a two-day trial at Brockhall and after that they asked me to carry it on.

‘And now the deal has been done and I’m delighted. I’m happy everything has been sorted out and I’m really happy to be here.’

Aley’s preffered spot is up top as a striker but will be prepared to chip in as and when and play wherever the manager asks him to… think Brett Emerton but British.

He continued – ‘My preferred position is up front, but I can also play on the left or on the right,’

‘But I’ll play anywhere on the pitch just to play my football because I enjoy it that much.

‘I’ll make sure I’m training hard every day so I can push on and do well for the reserves and then hopefully to try and start training with the first team and we’ll see where it goes from there.’

Another good signing for the club as with all youth singings, if they pay off, they pay off big time!
