Blackburn Rovers have rejected Carlisle’s attempts to turn youngster Joe Garner’s current loan move with the League One side into a permanent one.

Carlisle manager Neil McDonald, a young manager that I personally think will go on to very big things, has had the Rovers Academy graduate on loan. This loan has seen him score three goals in ten appearances for the promotion chasing League One outfit. McDonald said:

I enquired but it has come back from Blackburn that they do not want to sell Joe at the minute.

He has only just signed a new contract there and they want to keep hold of him while he is developing.”

I can see Garner (and another youngster Raffaele Da Vita) having an impact similar to Matt Derbyshire in the next year or so, hopefully this will be at Ewood Park and not elsewhere?
