Rovers & Spurs Looking For Change!

I’m one who always looks at facts, stats, records etc. I just can’t help myself! Here are more sequences both Blackburn Rovers and Tottenham Hotspur will want to change.

In the first of three consecutive Premiership meetings with London opposition Rovers will be looking to buck the trend of unwanted events, and not just against Tottenham! But Spurs themselves have a record this season that they want to see end?

Having only managed to beat Spurs once in our last four home Premiership meetings, this coming in November 2003 thanks to a Stephen Carr own goal we will be looking to end this run.

In fact the last occasion victory over Spurs was achieved at Ewood Park came hot off the heels of defeat to Manchester United, and as we all know they beat us 1-0 last weekend! That was United’s first victory over Rovers in three years so maybe Rovers can claim their first victory at Ewood over Spurs in three years this weekend?

With Rovers looking to avoid a fifth straight Premiership defeat (this would equal our worst run of results in three years!) the task will be made all the more difficult, not only due to past histories with meetings against Spurs at Ewood but also the fact that Spurs’ current run of form sees victory follow defeat! And having slumped to a 3-1 defeat to Reading last weekend the current pattern would mean? well you know!

Finally, Spurs are yet to record an away win in the Premiership this season so they will be looking to correct this.

All signs are pointing towards a draw, which on current form would be a welcome point for Rovers but what do you see happening this weekend? Will Rovers’ winless home run against Spurs of three years continue, will it be five straight defeats, will Rovers finally win a game or will Spurs end their 2006-2007 season away day blues?
