Rovers stars have a productive evening

Good news all around last night after a cracking showing from the Rovers players on international duty put a little smile on our faces.

First off congratulations to Martin Olsson who will surely be off to Euro 2012 with the Sweden squad after playing the full 90 minutes in the Scandinavians impressive 3-2 win against already qualified Holland.

Olsson looked a threat throughout and is a virtual shoe in for next summer’s show piece if he can stay injury free.

Further good news came in the form of a goalscoring performance from long throw in specialist Morten Gamst Pedersen as he bagged the opening goal in Norway’s 3-1 win over Cyprus.

Sadly it wasn’t enough for MGP to join Olsson in Euro 2012 but a return to form is always welcome.

David Goodwillie also got in the fun as he scored from the penalty spot in Scotland’s crushing 3-1 defeat to Spain.

Goodwillie had only been on the pitch 60 seconds before he claimed a spot kick and duly dispatched past Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes with a classy finish… Any chance of Hoilett and Formica watching a reply of it for some tips?

Radosav Petrovic and Keith Andrews (remember him?) also played parts in their nations matches last night but to a lesser extent.

But let’s not ruin this precious feel good moment!
